About the Course

Design is no longer just about visuals. It is about solving problems, improving experiences, and designing systems that work for everyone. In this course, you will learn to apply design thinking from research to prototype. You will explore empathy, journey mapping, accessibility, and feedback methods used by top design teams around the world. Guided by industry practitioners, you will complete a full design sprint that results in a portfolio-ready digital experience prototype for a real user or community challenge.

Entry Requirements

  • No prior design or technical experience required.
  • Basic digital literacy and interest in how people use technology are recommended.
  • Curiosity, empathy, and creative thinking are the key qualities to succeed in this course
Course Topics Include

  • Foundations of human-centered design and design thinking
  • Understanding users through empathy and research methods
  • Journey mapping and service blueprinting
  • Prototyping and usability testing for digital experiences
  • Accessibility, inclusion, and ethical design
  • Digital tools for wireframing and experience design (Figma, Miro, or Canva)
  • Communicating insights and presenting design outcomes
  • Capstone Design Sprint Project with mentor feedback and presentationT
  • Think Maldives: Designing Digital Experiences to address digital divide in communities

Course Topics Include

  • Continuous quizzes, design exercises, and peer feedback (30%)
  • Final Capstone Design Project including prototype and reflection report (70%)
  • Successful graduates earn a verified 4-credit microcredential (120 learning hours) with transcript and digital badge aligned to EQF Level 5–6
